MEASUREMENT AND WORKING TECHNIQUE

The refractive index of a solution containing sugar changes according to the sugar concentration.
A substance’s refractive index is measured with a refractometer. The measurement principle is based on the determination of the critical angle of total refraction between two media: one with a known and very high refractive index (Flint’s prism), and the other one which is being measured.
